Untangle vm networking questions

I'm trying to run Untangle in vmware server 2, host os is windows server 2003 r2. During install it won't find my internet connection, the first time I just went on with the install and tried to configure it manually but still nothing. Just tried it again and same thing.

My setup:
Cable modem -> Untangle vm -> switch -> computers

In virtual network editor I have:
Vmnet0 - Realtek nic / External
Vmnet1 - Vmware network adapter
Vmnet2 - Intel nic / Internal
Vmnet8 - Vmware network adapter

Step 3 in the install finds eth0 - external connected, dmz - eth2 unknown, internal - eth1 connected

Step 4 to find internet connection doesn't show anything and testing the connection finds nothing.

I tried following the untangle vm guide but I guess I'm just lost. I have internet through the host so my realtek adapter has an ip but it's not bridging to the vm? Any help appreciated
 
Update

I can ping and even transfer files through a shared folder from the host os and mainrig attached to the switch. But the untangle vm and mainrig don't have internet access. Only the host os does.

For some reason in Untangle under interfaces it has External as dynamic and Internal as static. I thought external was suppose to bridge to my realtek nic?
