Alright well i think this is just me having a brain fart but I cant seem to grasp how i should have this setup in the virtual network editor... Granted I am not a guru of VMware... i am definitly not a new user either... though this simple task is eluding me :(


I am looking to test a couple configurations for a soon to be producion environment here in VMware the path i am looking to test is as follows;

Firewall/DHCP box>Untangle>switch>Servers/Workstations

Now i have everything except untangle configured and working, the firewall box is bridges to a physical NIC for WAN, LAN side is on vmnet2, as well as the workstations/servers are on vmnet2 as well.

Now i want to add in an Untangle box in bridge mode (passthrough) between the firewall and the switch... Though for some reason I cant figure out how i would setup the Virtual Network.

Hoping someone can nudge me in the right direction.

you need another virtual switch to connect the firewall box and untangle together

so two nics for firewall box and untangle

firewall nic 1: your inet connection
firewall nic 2: vswitch with untangle on it

untangle nic 1: same vswitch as firewall box
untangle nic 2: your lan with server and workstations.


This is how i've always setup mine in ESX networking. Not sure what your using

I should have specified this is on VMware Workstation.... This would be no problm if i could throw it on my ESX box >.<

I dont think i can set this up with Workstation.... If i connect both Firewall/Untangle to the same vmnet adaptor they will be linked... though this will ruin the DHCP/IP setup that i have...

man im fried >.>
 
Im retarded, added them into a Team and i can add switches now... Will report back results though im sure this will work...

I need a vacation... lol
 
Its running fine now, im just retardedand forgot the important parts....

on a side note Untangle seems pretty killer.... Never used it before, looking unreal sofar... Very impressed.
