Hi,

Currently I have a pc with a 295gtx connected via dvi-d to a dell u3014. It also has a creative soundblaster card connected to g500 pro gamer 5.1 speakers.

Recently the g500 speakers are beginning to fail (I've had it since 2008/2009), and so I was thinking about updating the sound system to go along with an all in one solution so that my pc and ps4 could all output sound from the same speakers. At the moment I use the attachable sound bar for the monitor to hear audio from the ps4, and only the pc would have 5.1 surround sound for games and movies....

I have a hdmi out on my graphics card. The solution I've been thinking about would be to get an av receiver, plug the ps4 and pc via hdmi to it, and from there to the monitor. The monitor has one hdmi slot. But I'm not sure I want to lose the 2560 resolution I enjoy on a 30" monitor.

I'd really appreciate some viable options and solutions either going all out hdmi, or ideally finding a way to keep 2560 res via dvi-d and get sound from the same surround sound speakers for both pc and ps4. Thanks!

Run sound from your sound card to the same av receiver and leave your monitor connected the way it is.
