Hi,

Let me try to explain this as simply as I can. I started folding in August with an 8800 gts. Recently, I bought a 260gtx as a replacement. I have a dual boot setup between XP and Vista Business. Both are 32-bit. Normally I use XP for my everyday use (and folding), but about a week ago I switched to Vista to get Fallout 3 working. It crashed every 5 min in XP but seems much more stable in Vista, probably because it's a much cleaner installation.

Anyway, at first, I was noticing no problems. I was folding normally, but over the weekend the GPU client has mysteriously stopped working. Here are the messages I am seeing:

Can someone help me out here? I have no reason to believe this is a problem with my card. All my games are rock stable and the clock speeds are set to factory defaults. Drivers are WHQL 178.24. I installed Vista service pack 1 recently, as well as some other updates, which are about the only things that have changed in this setup during the relevant time period that I can think of.

What can I do to debug further?

5506 (Run 1, Clone 781, Gen 174) is a bad WU. I discovered this yesterday when it shut down my client running on a GTX 260 which is otherwise diamond stable (more than rock stable). I made a report on FCF and I'm not alone to have this problem. Another bad WU to watch is 5506 (Run 7, Clone 133, Gen 229).

Just delete the work folder and queue.dat and retry until you get a different one. If you get the same, delete the folder and queue.dat again.

Xilikon, tried your advice a few times but always recieved the same bad WU (5506 (Run 1, Clone 781, Gen 174)). I'll try again a bit later. Anything else I should try deleting?

Try again until it get off. Sometime, it take 10-15 downloads before the server assign it to another poor folder.

 
Just tried again and got another WU (a good one). Thanks for your help. Much appreciated.
