I recently put together a computer and am having trouble with the hard drive.

The BIOS doesn't see it. When I start the computer, it makes clicking sounds for a few seconds and then falls silent.

It's a WD Raptor 150GB 10,000 RPM. It's connected to a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L motherboard by a connector that come with the motherboard (the Hard Drive came all by itself with no wires or disks or anything) and a Corsair PSU-550VX ATX12V 550W power supply.

I've tried switching the wire I use to connect it to the motherboard with the other wire the motherboard came with. I've tried changing the BIOS settings relating to SATA. I've tried looking for drivers on the disk the motherboard came with. I've tried plugging the drive into different SATA ports on the motherboard. The optical drive works in all the SATA ports and is connected to the power supply by the same cord the hard drive is.

What else should I try? Did I just get a faulty hard drive?
 
Does the drive work in a different computer, or do you have a USB external enclosure to try it in? Trying it in a 2nd computer that refuses to see it and clicks exactly as you described means the drive is prolly dead.
 
+1 for a dead drive.

Sounds like you ruled everything else out. Only way to slam dunk it in is to try int in a second known good system.
