I'm just curious about the presentation of the various games through Steam. Do they come pre-patched to the latest version? I remember when Unreal 1 required a bit of work to get running on nvidia cards, it only ran good when I finally got a hold of a Pure3D 3dfx card (6MB!) from a friend but I imagine that now days most cards have the horsepower to run it in OpenGL or Direct3D. ;)

Also, for games like Quake 2/3 do they use the built-in browser to find online games or is it a browser with a Steam interface? I actually don't even remember if Quake 2 had a browser, I think I used Gamespy to find servers for Quake 1 and 2.

The games are pre-patched, and they use the internal browser still. At least that's the case with Painkiller and Quake 1
