Hey guys, here's the story:
So I was using my computer this morning before class and I went off to class and came home later with it at that BSOD, UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME.
Now I knew this meant either the boot record or file was screwed up and or the hdd was failing or dead.
However, I can see the HDD in the BIOS, but when I booted up to repair it through the auto repair utility and through DOS I cannot access it. I acted like I was going to reinstall windows and when I got to the screen that has you pick from the available HDD's, there was a little caution arrow thing that said the HDD was going to fail soon and to replace it when I clicked on my raptor.
I bought this 150GB raptor on 10/29/2006 so it's about a year and a half old which means the warranty still covers it. I'm just trying to figure out if it sounds dead to you guys, I would think it is too but I can still see it in the BIOS and when I try and reinstall Vista.
I've tried loading optimised defauts, repairing it through DOS and the vista startup repair utility. This was totally random, we did not lose power at the house at all and my computer was not touched by anyone. I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 on a 150GB raptor
Do you think it's dead?
