ok, i finall got the courage to start unlocking my amd, iv read hours worth of directions and all, but i got two questions

how do i know if i have a barton, a palomino, etc?

also, once u fill the tniy hole and connect the bridges, does this just mean that u can now change ur fsb as much as you want? or do u have to messa round with the mulitplier volatges? thanks alot,

i got a 2200, and its brown. sry, i cant find anywhere to tell me what model it is, but i plan totake off my heatsink and see with bridges there are, ittl tell me, thanks

this is by no means a flame, but you need a LOT more reading before you mess around with your chip. The unlock unlocks your MULTIPLIER not your FSB. The FSB can be changed (depending on your hardware, of course) with no modifications. If you want to get a higher overclock, you'll want to unlock that chip. If it is a tbred-b, it will be multiplier unlocked from the factory (pre week 39 [to check the week, look at the 2nd line... the first 4 numbers will look something like 02xx or 03xx, the first 2 are the year (2002, 2003 respectively) and the next two are the week (week 40 for instance, of 2002 = 2040)] chips are locked) <-- intense parens, i know..

So if you have a pre 0339 you're probably good to go if the chip is a tbred b, to check this, also on the second line will be something that looks like AIUHB, or AIXIB (or something similar). If you have a XXXXB it is a tbred B, if you have a XXXXA it is most likely a tbred a or palomino. To discern the difference between a tbreda and a palomino, look at the size of the die. If it is small and rectangular, it is a tbred. If it is slightly larger (about 1cm/1cm) and square in shape, it is a palomino, and you probably wont get a righteous overclock out of it, so don't be disappointed.

As far as overclocking, fill in the pit with something non conductive like a crayon or superglue (i use superglue) and then connect the bridges with something conductive... lots of people use a rear-window-defogger kit from a car shop, i had some conductive lacquer, so that's what i used.

Again, this is by no means an insult... but PLEASE READ MORE before attempting an overclock. It's not fun to try o/cing your chip without knowing what you're doing, and what the result will be of the changes you make (this is important) ;D

I'd link you to an o/c tutorial, but i don't have any good ones bookmarked... someone else perhaps can help you here...

Finally, good luck!
