Unlocking 7950 to 7970?

No. There have been threads about people flashing their 7950 to 7970, but it amounts to a simple overclock. It is not like the 6950 where you could "unlock" the extra stream processor and texture units. They are laser cut as far as we know - and cannot be unlocked.

That said, according to this article,the difference in stream processors and textures units only amount to about a 5% increase in performance clock for clock.

Just overclock your GPU - and if you have a well binned 7950, it's possible your card could perform on parity with a (stock) 7970 anyway.
