I found this cooler at work and I don't have a single clue as to the brand or how it screws onto the mobo. anyone have a clue?

Can you be a little more specific? I may have to consult the magic 8 ball. Pics perhaps?
 
that would make sense. we do have all Dell computers. we recently just got rid of any self built PCs though and they we pretty much all custom. you guys think its usable on a non Dell pc?
 
It looks like its from an old dell desktop. It should come with a shroud and a fan.
 
No shroud lying around and the fan is actually inbetween the two heatsinks.
 
It's an AVC Cooler. I know that. Used to use them in Pentium D systems in my shop.

It uses a backplate and springloaded screws.
 
Found it. AVC Napoleon LGA775. so it should work for a C2D or a C2Q. does it really matter what kind of backplate I use? I donthave one but if I could find one....
