i wasnt sure if this should be in here or in power supplies but whatever. anyway, im looking for a solid price/performance universal ac adapter. not one for laptops or anything like that, but for normal devices that you plug into the wall to recharge. in my particular case, i need a new ac adapter for my mp3 player, but i figured that if it is going to cost me 30 from the company itself i might as well buy something that i can use on multiple devices. anyone have any experience with this? any help would be much appreciated.

Just find an adapter that outputs the same voltage and supplies at least as much current as the old one(more is fine but less usually isn't). Also, check the tip size and polarity. Some adapters are multivoltage and multitipped(and the polarity is even changeable), so the only thing you have to look for there is current. Though for charging an mp3 player, I doubt you would need more than a few hundred milliamps.
