this is the point, i have winxp, win vista in dualboot, the point is, i want to uninstall vista without killing my winxp installation, how can i do that?

i'm tired of low performance on windows vista, i will test the latest ubuntu version

I don't think you can since Vista alters your MBR. You can use diskpart from the Vista installation DVD (start the installer, drop to command prompt) to clean the MBR.

Or a simple WinXP clean install might do the trick.

Before you go down that road, would you like some assistance troubleshooting your Vista installation? For the 'average' user, Vista is significantly faster than XP (as far as responsiveness, general desktop applications), and if you're into gaming, drivers are very quickly catching up (and in at least some cases, exceeding XP performance).

Of course there are still issues, and some programs/hardware that do not play nice with Vista, but the list is surprisingly small!
