Apart from the usual Control Panel > Uninstall method, should I use some tool or delete some registry keys to ensure full removal of the old graphics drivers?

I remember there used to be a tool (driver sweeper) but it's no longer avaialble. At least the version I have is several years old and it's not updated anymore. Don't know if there's a new tool I can use - or if it's necessary any longer to use one.

The new drivers are much better about cleaning up after themselves than in days of old.
 
Safe mode as well, First heard of it when I was getting tech support on my sager. Never had any problems since. :)
 
if using an nVidia card (at least for the 400 / 500 series) the newer drivers releases have an option you can check mark called "PERFORM A CLEAN INSTALLATION". You will find this option after you choose CUSTOM INSTALL instead of using the EXPRESS (recommended) install

Yep a couple. One, why do you do this (i.e. run driver sweeper in Safe Mode)? and Two, why do you think uninstalling in Safe Mode would make any difference?

I'd like to know too.

I ended up using DS to clean up everything and then installing the new ATI drivers.
