Uninstalled Catalyst and no Usb.

Typing from kindle as no ps2 keyboard avaliable. Catalyst uninstall removed usb drivers from system. Have win 7 on usb stick and drivers. How do I fix it? Made usb stick and never used. Don't want to format; important documents.

Win 7 loads into normal w/o usb . Kindle typing is annoying!
 
Well it seems my usb Win 7 repair doesn't recognize my install on my ssd. Used Sean's guide on overclock.net to format mbr. Any ideas before I erase? Win 7 loads fine; no usb though.
 
only thing i would be able to suggest is press F8 while system is booting up and choose something like last working settings
 
It was the only option available in Control Panel. Still no usb so going to wipe my ssd. I have those drivers on my worthless dongle. It still won't recognize the format on any hard drive. Can't get it to recognize them as able to install win 7 either. I can boot win 7 fine but all usb is disabled. Repair usb dongle can see all the files but says all my hard drives are using the wrong format. All 5. Think win 7 is going on a regular hard drive this time. No more AMD ACHI drivers for me. :)

Can't. No usb for command prompt. Usb works only in bios and repair usb dongle. Loading ssd is worthless.
 
Delete instances of usb in hardware manager and reboot. Windows will redetect.

Couldn't get the mouse or keyboard to work at all if I loaded Windows off the SSD. So I can't even hit a key to do functions in Windows as USB was deleted by Catalyst. I found my old OCZ SSD I affectionately named as it's drive label "QuickandDead" and I'm in the process of installing Win 7 onto it so I can save a few documents off the Corsair SSD before I erase it. Got to be fast as the OCZ SSD will go link dead on a whim. Ha ha! :)

But thx guys! I think I have it under control now. But still my USB drive wouldn't repair or install Win 7 onto any of my drives while I had it running. I wonder why? I tracked my nephew down and commandered a copy of Win 7 64 on disc format and everything is smooth sailing. I did make the USB copy for this very scenario and it failed on me. :(
 
now setup a second partition/drive and use windows 7 system image/backup utility... i'm suprised how few people use one the best features of windows 7.

recovering from a system image/backup will be like you never left it..

I was told that wasn't a good idea with a SSD. I don't remember the reasoning, but I definately read that. I was thinking of doing that also. Still don't understand why the Repair USB dongle couldn't find the Win 7 installation to repair it. I figure it must have something to do with ACHI as it found it for a second only to erase the boot sector. That was when I selected IDE in the bios instead of ACHI when I was pulling straws to try things to fix it. Then there was no going back and I installed Win 7 on the OCZ SSD.

Even more perplexing is Catalyst only allowing me to uninstall all ATI software. The repair for Catalyst didn't work so I figured this was what you did next since I couldn't uninstall part of it. What a surprise I got!

I found this old thread because I was searching for a fix. Windows wouldn't auto detect the correct drivers and it took me 4 hours to get my keyboard and mouse back.

What I finally did was manually install the USB driver USBFilter.inf that gets put into your Program Files (x86)\AMD\USB Audio Filter Driver folder. I had to select the file manually for each instance of a USB device in the Device Manager by selecting Update Driver > Browse Computer> Pick from a List> Have Disk... and then navigating to the AMD install folder listed above.

Hopefully this will keep someone else from having to reinstall the OS.
 
Have the exact same issues. Was upgrading video cards (just got a brand new 290x) Decided to get rid of the old (7970 HD) drivers in case of any conflict. So I uninstalled catalyst little did I know I was uninstalling ALL the drivers....including the USB drivers. :eek: God you don't know how fucking both stupid I feel and pissed I am at myself for not realizing this before I did it. This day went from awesome to horrible so quickly. - deep sigh - :mad:

My biggest issue now is I have no idea how to get access to the PC to even change anything to fix this? I have usb till windows starts booting and then the mouse turns off.

What is the easiest way to fix this and at least get access to the drive or bring the usb drivers back? I think the first thing I need is some mannor to access the PC and be able to change something... and I have no idea what to do in order to achieve this...

Anyone that can help would be greatly appreciated. :confused:
 
UPDATE* I found my usb windows install disk so I at least have access to that and all the utilities..

What I need to figure out is what is my next move? Any help would be highly appreciated :confused:
 
Do you have a second PC? You can try to RDP into the PC and then install the files or run the system restore to a point just before removing the drivers. I think you can also run a system restore from the WIndows install or restore CD.
