I've got a machine that's a few years old that I've had running Fedora Core 2. It's got a 1.3 ghz Athlong, 512 RAM, 40 and 60 gig hard drives, and a Geforce3 Ti 200 video card. I usually leave it running all the time. Lately it's been freezing a lot, and I cannot explain why. There's no patterns to how it freezes. It'll freeze whether I have lots of stuff open at once, or if it's just idling. I'm 99% sure it's a hardware problem, because I boot into Knoppix (linux distro on a CD) and it will still freeze. Also, sometimes it will freeze when the BIOS is loading. I thought it might be a power supply problem, so I switched out the power supply. Still froze. I testing it using either stick of RAM. No luck. I tried it with each hard drive (the OS couldn't load, but it still froze at the BIOS). I disconnected all the hard drives and CD drives, and it appeared to work, but when there's no hard drive to boot to it wouldn't normally get to the point where it would freeze so I can't be sure. I'm pretty sure it's got to be a motherboard problem, but I have no way of knowing because I don't have a spare motherboard lying around.
Any ideas as to what might be going on?

Oh yeah, I forgot to say that sometimes it'll boot up fine if I just leave it in its frozen BIOS state, but still running, and then wait like 15 minutes and restart it. It's almost like it has to warm up or something before it'll start working.
Also, the CPU and system temperature are well within the safe range so it's not overheating...

I'd try a better power supply, and maybe run memtest on the RAM
