So I am thinking about getting this board - GIGABYTE GA-EP45-DQ6

Because it has 10 onbard sataII and 4gbe lan for my home server

My question is can I take my Pentium D 930 @800mhz fsb and use it in there if I underclock the FSB to 800?
Also what about my memory I have ddr2 667 and the mobo takes ddr2 1200?

I read the specs and I don't think its supports P4 chips.

Code:
FSB 1600/1333MHz

Well, it is a P4..its a Pressler..It dual core, but its still a P4 chip...
the board you linked is for Conroe and Wolfdale chips....I doubt very much that board would take an 800mhz FSB chip...

Who knows though....

the question is would the chip do 1066fsb?

my presler will do pretty close to 1000fsb, and i think im power supply limited because there's lots of them that do 1066+

Looking at the supported CPU and memory list it looks to me like you have a shot at making it work.

edit: I didn't read the supported CPU correctly. As stated below the last column is NA or not supported.

Seriously guys, why post bullsh*t, refer to a decent source for your info!!

To the op, your CPU will be fine with this board.
A quick glance at the EP45-DQ6 cpu compatibility page on Gigabytes own website confirms this
http://tw.giga-byte.com/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=2831

Specifically:
Intel Pentium D 930 3GHz 4MB Presler 65nm C1 95W 800

I think you need to take your own advice...The page you linked confirms what I said...specifically, that the CPU will not work with that board...

Please show me where N/A means anything but "not supported"...

Crosshairs looks to be correct. Also, I'd like to think there are no BS questions. I often learn things from what at first seems pretty basic. And like many here it's not like I just started doing this yesterday.

Too bad, my apologies for the above.
Must read better :)
