I have a spare machine that im putting to use as a small nas problem is theres no onboard and video card i was planning on using is agp 2x and wont work with this motherboard. The only other AGP card i have is an old x800xl with a bad bearing in the fan so its really loud.

Is it possible to underclock the crap out of it and just unplug the fan or would i run into stability issues trying? Or am i just going to have to get my hands dirty and find out?
 
What you can probably do is underclock it, rip off the cover and fan (leaving the heatsink still on), and aim an 80mm silent fan at it. There has to be at least some moving air in the case or the air temp will just rise and rise, so a silent fan is MUCH better than no fan.

I ended up taking the cover off and strapping an 80MM fan on it will monitor the temps and see if i even need to underclock it.

If i can avoid having to to install windows and mess with all that then all the better.

IIRC it runs pretty cool at idle anyway.
