I know this isn't very [H]ard of me, but I would like to know how to underclock my Nvidia Go 7900 GS in my Inspiron E1705. I'm trying to get some more life out of it, and even with a cooling pad it will still sometimes overheat and BSOD my system.

I know its the GPU, because I watch the temps with IK8Fan. I have both fans set to max all the time, and idling at desktop, my CPU temps are around 77F and my GPU is around 120F.

I'm running the newest drivers that nvidia's website says works with my card (179.48), and according to their website nothing newer works. I don't do any gaming on this laptop anymore, so graphics performance doesn't matter to me.

Is there a software I can download that will allow me to under clock and maybe even under volt my GPU?

What you can do is did up the old old thread when people were creating custom bios roms to increase the clock speed and voltages. Look on notebook forums.

I had one of those .. in 2006.

I got rid of it in 2009 because of the BSODs and and the heat and the massive weight (and I'm a big freekin dude)

You obviously have the money (looking at your Nikon gear, wow!) - there are some seriously lighter, faster, and better machines that can be had.
