Thanks.
I plan on oc'ing this thing. Probably best to turn Speedstep off, eh?
The best reason to disable speedstep is because your processor should never be idle as folding for the [H]orde is much, much more important - so if disabling speedstep raises your maximum OC, then put that power to good use!
SpeedStep won't do anything while you're folding, so you may as well leave it on.
But I thought this thing was supposed to ship at 2.53 ghz? Out of the box, I mean.
My CPU seems to need a lot of juice. I'm running at 2.7 ghz right now and it's using 1.248V.
Compare that to the guy upthread who has his at 4 ghz at 1.088V.
Maybe I just got a processor that doesn't like to overclock?
What's considered a safe temp? I'm at 50 under load and Prime quits.
That was his VID, not his actual vcore. My CPU seems to need a lot of juice. I'm running at 2.7 ghz right now and it's using 1.248V.

speedstep baby
it lowers the multi to save power. once you start needing that extra CPU muscle it will go back to normal.
you can disable it in bios if you want.
edit: also, these e7200's are fantastic overclockers. let that baby rip

is that even stable1.08 at 4.0+ 24h prime or i call shins
That shouldn't be correct, they're two different things.
I can't even figure out how to get CPU-Z to say "VID" instead of voltage. o_0
