Woke this morning and my system was running but my mouse wasn't on and the cable was hot. After reconnecting that to no avail I turned off my system, did a full power cycle and tried to reboot. Now I can't power on at all. No indicator lights on the mobo and plugging directly into the wall doesn't change anything. Everything was plugged into a ups but I'm trying a straight power strip too. All my other stuff powers on ok (display, printer) but nothing on my desktop. Advice? Specs in my sig.

which cable was hot? the mouse cord? Which port was it plugged into? If it was a chassis USB port, I would make a closer inspection to see if it's not making contact with the case somewhere and causing a short.

Well I've fixed the problem. Turns out my deathadder is kaput. I still don't exactly see how that would make my system unbootable though. I unplugged the mouse reseated the front panel connectors and viola everything works. I tried the mouse in every usb port i have to no avail, so I guess it is a goner.
