So I'm following the guide to install the MPICH SMP client, and I get to the point where I run the fah6 -configonly command and I get this error. Google has failed me here so I decided to post.

Yes I renamed the executable to fah6.

Any ideas?

Unless you have full read/write access configured, the Users directory is a bad place to run something from. I would try installing it into C:\FAH not C:\Users\FAH.

WIll do. BTW the guide says that the either C:\FAH OR C:\Users\username\FAH would be an alright place.

Let us know if that worked. As for the guide.. I never noticed it said that. Always thought it just said C:\FAH.

Did you type in a username and password? The username who you install it under doesn't need administrator rights, but they do need to have a password (can't be blank).

Oh and is this 32-bit or 64 bit Vista?

Try making a shortcut to the F@H executable, then go into the shortcut's properties and put -configonly after the path in the Target box.

Yes I put in the password, and its Vista 64.

MPICH doesn't work with Vista 64.. only the Deino version does

Edit.. oppps other way around.. my bad.....

do you type in the user name or just hit enter?

Other way around, actually. DEINO does not work with 64-bit but MPICH does.

try to type fah6 -configonly instead of fah6.EXE -configonly

Nope, shortcut doesn't work. Same error.

O well, looks like this isn't for me. I just wanted to try using it when I'm not at my machine.

Ok, I might be shooting in the dark but I do believe that you might have renamed the uninstaller.exe to fah6.exe instead of the correct .exe.

To be sure of that, can you take a screenshot of the folder contents and post it here ?
