I am unable to boot with USB on a dell netbook.
I have tried making a usb boot disk with a number of flavors using
unetbootin. I keep getting the error bootmgr missing
press ctrl-alt-del

Please help. I want to get rid of Win 7 and put Mint on netbook or at least
an easy to use Linux distro preferrably with xfce.

is the USB drive one with two partitions containing a security program and launcher, like the U2 Cruzer drive? If so, you need to uninstall that partition and try making the boot drive again.

bootmgr is the Windows 7 bootloader. If you are seeing this error, it's not even trying to boot from the USB drive, or your USB drive has a broken Windows 7 installer on it. Make sure you've selected the proper device in the computer's boot menu, and that the USB drive is set up with a Linux installer. If the USB drive is set up properly, it will probably have "vmlinuz" in the root directory.

That worked. Thanks

I went with Mint. I was gonna try Xubuntu but it was not detecting the mouse.

That was an indication that I would have nothing but problems and aggrevation.

Everything with Mint just works. It even detected the wireless on Install.
