Hi all. I have a 160 gig ATA 133 Maxtor drive installed as a secondary harddrive. problem is, Windows only sees 127 gigs. windows is up to date and all that, and there's no OS installed at all on the drive itself, so no space should be taken up by it. It's just been formatted. How can I get my 33 gigs (or close to it) back? thanks in advance.
 
LOL. Check to make sure your motherboard or card supports 48-bit LBA. If not, you may need to update your bios.
 
it's an msi k8n neo2 platinum flashed to 1.5 (latest bios)

given that board and your service pack level you shouldnt be having this issue
whats "seeing it" disk management? is it formatted? NTFS?

I would guess that it was formatted before you enabled 48bitLBA with the service pack
and that accessing disk management will show you the additional unallocated space

Start > Run > (type) diskmgmt.msc > RClick Partition and Format unallocated space

you could also expand the partition as long as it doesnt have a page file or is the system partition (w\ the ntldr and boot.ini)
using diskpart.exe a free windows commandline tool

otherwise partition magic
