Ultra X-Connect PSU's

p-o-w-m-a-x

I can give you reviews, readings, charts, etc, but to be simple, let's just say it's made by the 2nd worst psu manufacturer out there. :)

yes, but lets be fair here
is merely an adequate PSU
largely touted by the uniformd as a hgh quality PSU
it hasnt proved itself to be a bad PSU, and if you value its looks over better power
you can likely employ it without ill effect if you give it enough room
but I wouldnt load it near its capacity, I wouldnt expect it to soldier through adverse conditions (instability of AC source power or elivated temperature)

in other words, you need to carefully run the numbers and balance the tradeoffs involved

ok well i'd be running:

athlon 64 3200+ newcastle
1 gig corsair xms
6800GT OC'd to 412/1100
3 7200rpm hdd's
dvd burner and a cd burner.
3 case fans (2 120's and 1 92)
1 uv cathode
and a stock amd hsf

think it could handle it?

i basically want something with all of the cables pre-sleeved, i tried to do it myself and i just dont have the patience for it. If this isnt a good one can anyone point me to a good one? Somthing in the 500w+ range and not TOO expensive.

I also saw these:

i dont know much about power supplies so any help would be appreciated :)

In essence they're not bad, but for 100 dollars you could certainly buy a better one that doesn't look so flashy but actually performs at the 100 dollar value level. In short, buy something better.

I'd tend to agree with you. I've got two Enermax 3in1 server PSU's that I exchanged the ThermalTake Silent(LOUD) Purepowers for two weeks after I got them. The Enermax's are stable, powerful and silent.

The X-connect is overpriced for what you get. It's more like a $50 unit with a flashy exterior. If you're looking for something high-qualty that has the modular connectors then try this Antec unit. It's a bit more expensive but worth every penny.

Antec NeoPower 480W

I've installed a couple of them in the tech shop I work at. The bundle feels high quality. The parts all are heavy and feel well made. Don't be fooled the voltages that come out of them aren't the best or most stable.

I second the NeoPower 480. It's a great modular PSU and comes from a reputable and quality manufacturer. I own one and it was worth every penny.

The Antec Neo power is nice.... I may have to look into one, as modular seems to be my best bet right now.... In my current case (an older Antec that isn't full tower) the main 12V rail is just WAAAAY to long, and I've got way to many cables that don't power anything currently. So, being able to only use the cables I need would just rock... But here is my main question. How difficult is sleeving, and how hard ould it be to shorten the main 12V rail?
