Hi I have an Ultra X-Connect PSU that I bought for a rather small system I'm in the middle of upgrading (see sig).

Well, I bought it because I wanted a good looking and powerful PSU (to run all sorts of lights and shiny doo dads going into the comp). However, with most powerful PSU's come lots and lots of wires. Seeing as I have an MATX case, that just can't do. So I also needed it to be modular and the X-Connect had all these on its checklist so that was great.

But here's my problem, the wires are too fat. These things are THICK. And because they are modular, they stick out an extra inch in addition. This basically equates to me needing 4-5 inches of free space directly behidn the cords. That's simply ridiculous.

This is not just specualting. I did a test fit in one of my spare ATX frames and it couldnt even get in there. The cord was beign blocked by the optical drive cage. And while I haven't tried it in the mATX case for which it was bought (the case is currently being painted and windowed and what not) I doubt it'd fit in that either seeing as it's even smaller than my ATX frame.

So here's my question! Apparently Ultra realized the retardation in these cords and in their other psus and stuff they've got some flex force thing going on (which they advertise the hell out of at great volumes). Is it possible that I can use those flex force cables on my X-Connect without problem? Those would seriously solve all my problems.

I really hope I can cuz if not...well, I'm a case modder, I'm desperate, I have a rotary tool, leftover Erector Set pieces, and some glue. I'm not afraid to use them. lol

haha, never mind, shoulda consulted google first. But in case anyoen else had the same problem, I'll fill in the blanks.

No, the flexforce wires from the X2 or Xfinity will not work with the first generation of X-Connects. However, really soon, Ultra's going to be selling their "upgrade kits" which consist of flexware cables designed specifically for the first generation of X-Connects! They should go for 20 bucks a set and will replace every cable that coems iwht the 1st gen X-Connects. :D

i'm about to bag a 2nd gen xfinity 500w for 65 brand new ...
