I just noticed that my Teac 48x toaster gets very very hot after several hours of computer operation. I can barely keep my hand on its belly (the plate that covers the electronics), the drive is not used, not spinning, nothing, and the heat comes from inside, otherwise my case is well ventilated.

I just wanted to say that you are very lucky for having a 48x toaster. Mine only runs at 1x :(

Seriously, though, are you finding that the drive is making a lot of coasters (or would you say toast?)? If so, it's time to have a little chat with Teac. If not, I think you should stop rubbing your drive's belly. It might not like that.
