Ultra drive bay PSU

is this compatible with Dell PCs?

Yes, afaik if teh mobo has a 20+4 psu (and most do) then it should be fine, also it seems that this plugs in externally.

My question is would this thing provide enough juice to power a HTPC? Meaning this device only, and no PSU? It would be an interesting idea,

Didn't Thermaltake have plans for something like this. Or am I imagining things?

Yup, Thermaltake made 2(?) different ones that I know of, one is strictly to power GFX cards, and the other was a Mini ITX 270W Power Supply. After researching this subject it seems that the second one produced by Thermaltake does indeed support small and micro formfactor computers. So this would be a pretty interesting thing to use in a dual system inside a Mozart TX case.

I think the concern is the pin-out of certain Dell computers as some Dells have a proprietary 20-pin pinout. If your Dell has a proprietary pinout, this product will NOT work, because those Dell's have the turn on lead at different pins than actual ATX motherboards.

So again, the question is "which Dells?"

Yes, but the Thermaltake didn't have +5V and only provided PCI-e connectors. The Power Partner has PCI-e and Molex connectors and can supply both +12V and +5V.

That's quite a bit of juice for a bay PSU. However, the end result would be to just upgrade your primary PSU... unless of course if you have a dell as the persons above mentioned.

Maybe. Depends on if I can get my samples back from someone.
