I'm trying to find out what to believe when it comes to identifying a close to accurate temp for my system and chip. I'm running a Chilltec , P4D 955 EE , DFI Infinity P965-S , Alienware case w/ a 120mm exhaust fan , 120 exhaust on the psu , 1x 80mm intake on the side, and 2x92mm on the other side. At idle , the bios tells me that the chip is running around 12*C and 18*C under load. The Smart Guardian software that came with the board is telling me similar readings and so did Smartfan. Are these temps anywhere near correct? The only other mods I have done was to lap the cooler before install so I don't really have a baseline. In the end I was glad I lapped it as there were some very serious low areas on the coolers contact patch.

I just want to make sure that things are within temp specs but I also want to avoid any condensation from running too cold. Any suggestions for other software to use for comparison? I am going to try Hardware Sensors Monitor next and see what kind of readings it shows.

Sorry this got so long winded but these temps are kind of confusing as I was under the impression that the Chilltec would keep the temps at a non-condensating(not sure if that's a word-LOL!) point. Any advice or opinions will be highly appreciated.

Huh... That's odd. It's physically impossible for your CPU to load at 18c with a TEC that small.

I mean, an idle temp of 18c I *could* believe, but not a load temp...

What's your room temp?

Ok , I rechecked my temps again and this is what I came up with : 12*C - 18*C at idle , depending on room temp. Under full Orthos load , the highest it reached was 31*C. I guess I wasn't expecting that low of a temp reading. We keep the house set at about 75*F and probably a little cooler in the winter. Should I worry about condensation around the socket? It's kind of strange - I can put my hand into my case and it definitely feels cooler than room temp. I'm just worried about the moisture factor.:( This is my first experience with a TEC so I guess I'm a little over reactive. LMK what you think. Thanks for replying.
