i replaced my old xp90/vantec tornado with an ultra 120/ silenx the other day, but my temps seem to be about 5c higher in idle and load. i reseated it, and got the same. is the xp90 a better cooler? the fan output is around the same, at the level i have it set to, ie around 40cfm. have to admit tho, the silenx makes about the same sound at low speed as it does at full speed. definitely worth the money. i will replace all 4 fans in my gigabyte 3d aurora with these.
it is not an ultra 120 extreme. couldnt justify paying $20 more for 1-2c better performance.

ambient 21c
idle 42c
load 68c
vcore 1.585

xp90
idle 38c
64c

I've had both with VERY similar fans and the 120 gave me much better cooling. I did love my 90c though. :)

Be very careful in applying your paste and also give it a week or so, your temps will drop from break in. The Ultra should be a much better cooler, though they are both FTW. :)

Don't mean to bring back an old thread but, any update a week after? What's the temp differences now? I'm considering replacing my XP-90c for an Ultra-120 too.

my temps are now about the same as they were with the xp90, considering the rise in ambient temps. but the ultra120/silenx at full speed is quieter than the xp90/tornado at lowest speed. so unless you want a quieter pc, stick with the xp90.
