Ultimate gaming machine!!

Spending 5000 on a rig...buy TWO of the Dell monitors. You will be loving it. If you do have that much to spend, however, I would wait at least until 2Q, or maybe 3Q because as has been stated - loads of new products are coming out. The products mentioned look great. 2 SCSI 15k rpm in RAID0 and 2 large SATA drives in RAID1 seem fine. Socket 939 and Prescott are worth the wait, although I don't know what is brewing on the vid card front. Have fun.

As of 1-14-2004, yes. Unless you're an Intel fanboy, there really isn't any reason to pay $1000 for the EE when you can get the AMD 3400+ (a faster processor) for $400.

Faster?

WTF? Why would anyone spend 5k on a female ? lol. I dont spend more then $40 on a dinner/date, cuz I can get a hooker for $40 or less. And when it comes down to it... we only buy dinner and a movie so we can get laid.

Hi.

computers > females because you can slap the shit out of them, and they dont talk back. I dont have to listen to my computer bitch about stupid crap that I would never want to ever listen to.

But I do love females.. just not enough to spend money on them.

It's all about quad-Raptors. Raid 0+1, oh yeah.

Does SATA Raid 0+1 even exist?

Are you going to have another 5 grand in 12 months time to replace the useless machine you have by then?

Get another stick of DDR for that rig, you clown.

Is anyone lame enough to actually pay for sex?
Funniest shit I've ever read!

1nferno where did you used to live before germany? did u live in central cali by any chance? is your name stephen ?

gg dude it is u, wuts up man! its me neg nabs cuz

From what I've read in reviews the AMD64 3400+ is the way to go if you build it now. If you wait there will be new stuff coming out then that will sound sweet too. That will make you want to wait some more. If you have a AMD 2600 system sitting around it will do the trick for a while just put a 9800pro or 9800XT in it and you will run any game out now or in the neer future fast enough. With what you already have you should wait.:)

I wish I had $5000 to spend on a new box...

while I would probably wait a few months to see where the dust settles on the new chips that are coming out and wait for a few new MB, I would very likely go with an Athlon 64 system.

Athlon64 3400+
1GB mushkin lvl2 pc3500
ATI 9800xt
Antec True480
New MB based on either SIS755 chipset or the NForce3
pioneer A-06 DVD-RW drive
Pioneer dvd-rom drive
2 WD 250GB SATA Hard drives w/ 8MB buffers
Maybe a nice 21'' flat screen to go with it

I'd suggest any board based on the Via K8T, not the nForce3. I can't remember where I saw it, but the K8T has been outperforming the nForce3 in every aspect

listen, spend 1500 bux right now for a nice lappy. if you dont need one, then spend ~1000 dollars for a 2.4c system and o/c the mutha fucka.

then, come back in april and ask the same question.

Buy stuff like Speakers (www.AV123.com / B&W, Paradigm), subwoofer (www.svsubwoofers.com), wireless keyboard, dual 20 inch LCD monitors, high performance sound card (look through the HTPC forums at www.avsforums.com) , AMPLIFIER for the speakers (Rotel, Sherman, Parasound Halo, etc..), chair, desk, networking stuff, scanner, printer, joysticks, Xbox controller mod... If you get some good deals, this should run between 4-5k, but you will enjoy your computer much more than an increase in 200mhz clock speed...

THen head to Media and Games, Go buy legal copies of your warez buy the CDs and DVDs you enjoy, pick up the latest games and the classics.

Then double your memory, and wait for the PCI express/ prescott, BTX....etc.

Spend Smart, go for the best bang in the buck, No reason to spend 1000k on a procesor when you can spend 600 and get 90% of the performance.

SCSI drives, fast memory, dual procs. IS what you should be looking at for $5000

DO NOT BUY IT NOW, WHATEVER YOU DO. The next generation stuff, especially the video cards are going to BLOW THE CURRENT CARDS OUT OF THE WATER!!! Wait until the Prescott with an 800 MHz FSB and for the PCI Express, then buy your new comp.....
