ULI vs Nforce4 chipset power use?

Yeah, I know it sounds like a mobo quesiton, but its a power question.

Does anyone know how much a Nforce4 mobo uses in comparison to the ULI chipset of the ASrock939? I want to replace for a DFI but I have my doubts in my power supply.

I can currently run the Asrock on my Sparkle 350 (the extra 4 pins hangs over the 20pin molex) without power issues. I have an X800 and Opty 146 on the board. I dont like the Assrot board because its too unstable.

You sure its not unstable because of a power issue?

I can prime95 for hours
Play games with my video card/cpu overclocked for hours... Ranging from Fear, Q4, CoD2, to CSS just fine.
Memtest and whatever else survive fine.

Then I open a website with flash. Oddly the add on top doesnt crash me but there are some that are just a pain, typically the interactive ones tend to be the worse. And my computer reboots or BSODs on me lol.

The power consumption of a motherboards chipset is very small compared to the rest of the system and I highly doubt it would be enough draw to push you over the limits of your power supply. Why do you think your current problem is caused by the power supply, sounds like something else to me.

Yeah, I dont think its my PSU. Its a very um how do you put it? Tempermental motherboard. So I was thinking of replacing it, of course then I would run into the concern that my PSU will be unable to provide enough juice.

This Asrock has a 20pin ATX while Nforce4s have a 24pin ATX connector. I have probably the lowest wattage rating on a 24pin ATX2.0 psu, its a 350watt. So I was concerned I would exceed the threshold of my PSU.

But its nice to know the chipset doesnt use very much power. The concern poped up after reading about the extensive power requirements of DFI boards who recomend the use of the OCZ Powerstream 520 or the Fortron 510. I mean its JUST a 150 watt difference

I seriously think you will be fine with your current power supply and an Nforce4 motherboard.
