Ugliest case mod evar

I love the reply to that mod in the forum below:

Mission Failed.

ahahahahahha, why are 2 word replies always the funniest?

cause they are simple and straight to the point that the poster is trying to get across.

How heartbraking it must be to have an idea, then build it and have it turn out like that. :(

My condolences.

Poor guy, he's probably from HardForums hoping to show off his big project :p This thread killed all this will in life.

Apple should get ahold of this guy and contract him to revamp the design of all there gear.

I think that the idea had merit. However, with that being said, I think that he used the wrong materials. If he had used a brushed aluminum with a bigger LCD, I think it would have turned out much nicer.

I can't emagine the pain of coming home to that machine in your office--or worse: Your TV room!

For a second I thought all those holes were speakers. Now im not sure what they are...

This clearly shows the two extremes. On one end, you have 'utilitarian', square, plain , wood-grain ugly. On the other, you have the i-Prefix (iMac, iPod), and a computer shaped like blobs in a lava-lamp.

Really, it's not the unfinished beige look so much as it it's the bulk. When you look at it you can't help but think, that isn't right... Cut down on the bulk, streamline it a bit, I think it would still look terrible...

Man I actually feel quite bad for the guy... even though I do think it is quite ugly.
He posted that thinking people would really like it. Nice try man ...

I actually took a look at his worklog, and there's a shot of his *final* result that... doesn't really look that bad. I think the picture on the front of the post looks alot uglier than it would in person.

....but why with a powerbook?

He took a rig that's main purpose is to be portable and made it into my father-in-law's 1988 Compaq "Luggable" with better speakers.

If he used a regular SFF or built the enclosure to hold the components he would have a much better response.
