I'm trying to hit 10x250 1:1 with my the system in my sig but it fails Prime95 after an hour or so. I took out my ABIT AV8 and tried my MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum but thats not going so well either, the Neo2 lasts even shorter in Prime95.

These are my settings for the Neo2 I am using right now:

1.6v vcore
2.85v vdimm
2.5-4-4-10-1T memory timings running 1:1 with the HTT(DDR500)
4x HTT(reaches the stock 1ghz setting on the board)

I though it might be my brand new Crucial Ballistix but I'm on my 7th pass of memtest right now, no problems.

I know my CPU can run 10x250 5:6 Prime95 stable so its not the CPU. Did I just get two bad motherboards?
 
Try 2T on the ram.

Might not even be the board, could be the cpu memory controller that is crapping out... is there a voltage part for an LDT? try giving that a little juice.

yeah, probably the memory controller is reaching its limit. Thats the luck of the draw with OCing.
 
What's the highest you can go without the memory? Then you'll know if it's your CPU or your ram.


I have the A8V 2.0, and I'm just keeping it at 240x11 1:1 with 3700 EBs.
 
I can run 10x250 no problem when my memory speed is at a 5:6 ratio.

I switched my memory to slots 3 & 4 on my K8N Neo2 and so far Prime95 has been running 3hrs 30mins with no failure, much better than lasting 16-30 mins. In my experience if it passes 4 hours it can keep on going, but I'll let it run 4hrs 30mins and then I'll reformat windows as I'm running Prime95 on top of an ABIT AV8 Windows install. Then I'll run Prime95 overnight.
 
Prime95 failed after 4hrs 16mins. I took everything out of my case and then I decided I would give it another go with the OCZ DDR booster at 2.9v so I put the RAM back in slots 3&4 and now Prime95 only lasts 32 minutes. I took out the RAM booster and went down to 2.8v and it still lasts only 32-36 minutes.

I'm running memtest now overnight, if it passes its time to try a new board.
 
be careful with the OCZ DDR booster. it's pretty easy to give the RAM too much voltage and in turn fry the memory controller on your CPU.
 
i dont like the idea of teh ocz memory booster...only practical use in my mind is to fix unstable current.. not to overvolt
 
You can only fry the memory controller past 3.4v...

I just ran memtest on the board at DDR500 speeds for about 14 hours, 0 errors. Time to use the ABIT AV8 again. My CPU can easily handle 10x250 when my memory is at lower speeds and I get different results with different motherboards so I think the limiting factor here is the mobo.

EDIT: Ugh I connected my AV8 and it failed after 27 minutes, two days ago it failed after an hour and a half with the same exact settings. I can't boot into Windows with the mem in slots 3&4. I think I might have one bad stick, usually if I switch the memory in the same slots I can get Prime95 running longer. I have the supposedly "bad" stick in DIMM 2 so we'll see if it lasts longer.

I did however run memtest for 13 hours and came up with no errors at 250mhz, and this was with all test set to on. I'll try one stick in tonight if I find that one of the sticks might be bad.
 
I'm now going to try to run my ABIT AV8 at 9.5x250mhz and see how stable that is, starting Prime95 now so wish me luck :p
