Hey guys. Building a budget web browser PC for my grandmother and I've picked out my parts but have one question before ordering.

The board I'm getting is the MSI A55M-P33 FM1 and it has a UEFI bios. I'm going to use my windows xp disk so I don't have to shell out more for win7 and I'm not sure if UEFI will run with 32bit win XP. Couldn't find the answer on google hope to here :)

Thanks in advance!

All of the UEFI BIOSes that I've seen support legacy booting through CSM. You shouldn't have any problem booting Windows XP provided that there are drivers for your motherboard. You should probably set the SATA controller to IDE mode and not AHCI.

That is most excellent news! Really didn't want to change to a am3 build.

I read in a few spots that UEFI doesnt work in 32bit, be it win XP/vist/7 whatever. What is this CSM mode and how can I figure if the board supports it? And then how to use it if it does?

Thanks a lot!

It supports it, don't worry. You don't need to do anything special, it will function just like an old bios but have a gui.

I'm running 32 bit XP Pro right now on an ASUS CHVF with UEFI.... no problems whatsoever.... ;)
