Ubuntu not playing nicely with VirtualPC

I'm having some problems getting Ubuntu 5.10 to install with VirtualPC on my XPSP2 box. I created the virtual machine with no problems. Ubuntu begins to install and everything seems to go fine. Then during the base install I get this error:

The debootstrap program exited with an error (return value 1).
The base system install into /target/ failed.

Anyone know how to resolve this? I've checked Google but haven't really found anything helpful.

Finally, sorry if this belongs in the *nix forum. Since Virtual PC runs on Windows, I figured this was the best place for it.

Try the previous version V5.04 and see if that works.
