Ubuntu not mounting RAID volume at boot

Hi

I have recently built myself a new file server which consists of

Adaptec 5805 controller
8x 3TB Hitachi drives
OS: ESXi 5
VM: Ubuntu 10.04.4 x64 server

I have setup everything and all works perfectly, well almost. The drives are in a RAID 6 configuration and will mount manually no problem.

But at boot the system cant find the volume to mount so it needs to be skipped, I am assuming it maybe the order the software is loaded maybe?

Anyway about a minute after boot I can successfully manually mount the volume.

How can I change this so it automatically boots every time, maybe changing the order of things or delaying the mounting process?

Are you trying to use VT-D pass through for the card, or trying to mount a vmdk stored on the raid array?

And you reboot the VM, and it doesn't mount right away? If you mount it and reboot it again, same problem?
 
On the very odd occasion it will mount, but less than 10% chance it will
 
Sorry for more probably fruitless questions, how did you install the driver for the card in ubuntu? Just the out-of-the-box driver, or did you install a driver from the LSI website?
 
I didnt install a driver (unless it comes with Adaptec storage manager)
Which has been installed
