I've got an older P4 that I just set up on Sunday, got the client running and it was turning in a frame about every 45 minutes... not bad given the hardware.

But, here's the thing. I got home yesterday to find that the power had gone out and shut the box down, I don't have enough outlets on my current UPS:mad: Anyhow, I got it started backup and now for some odd reason, it's taking almost 2 hours to complete a frame...

Anyone have any idea what happened here?

Might be a double-start of the client so you got 2 clients competing for cpu cycles. IMHO, flush it and redo the installation as corruption can cause this.

 
Did you check if it started with SSE boost or not.
Without the -forceasm flag a bad shut down will cause it to restart without the boost.
Shut it properly and then restart it.
If it speeds up you've found the error.

I concur.
 
Shutting it down and restarting it seems to have solved the problem... Thanks guys:)

 
Also the -forceasm switch is hard coded into the SMP client.
So it starts with the SSE boost even after a bad shut down.

I’ve heard that as well but I have also had the client drop to dead slow with a bad shutdown. I still use the –forceasm flag just to be sure.

The –advmethods flag is encoded into the client with the ability to turn it on and off during configuration. At the moment on the SMP client I’m not sure what it does, if anything.;)
