Does anybody have one of these? They look pretty interesting, and for the price they look even better. Haven't seen a whole lot of talk about them however. Just curious performance, usability and how the firmware is doing as far as maturity goes.

Was just looking at possibly picking one of these up. How do they compare with similarly priced Mikrotic devices? With pfSense/other?

Thanks,

- Jesse

yea, i have one...

i actually got mine with a pretty bad memory fault, it wouldn't even completely post, but i sent it back and UBNT promptly got another one out to me...

so far i've done more reading on it than messing with it... it seems quite a bit more powerful than most of the mikrotik devices

i'm planning a big metroE WAN roll out, and i'm unhappy with mikrotik's openvpn performance (for networks off the metroE), but i'm still not 100% sold on the edgerouter yet, so i'm not sure it's going to be ready in time for my rollout...

also i need to run some benchmarks on ITS openvpn performance as well...

as i already have PC based routers in place, i'll probably just switch those over to pfsense... but the goal is to replace those as needed eventually with the edgerouters...

i'd definitely say watch this space in the future... also the RFArmor guys make a rackmount bracket for the ERL as well, too bad it's frickin expensive....

then again it's still cheaper than a decent server based box...

Looked closely at it. Seems to have great features but requires a lot of setup. Went with a USG50 instead for simple multi vlan and vpn.

Yes I have one but its really designed for WISP's and isp's not really for home use.

Makes sense. It just looked like one hell of a box for the money, so I got interested.

USG50 is a bit more than I was looking to spend unfortunately. Looks like a nice unit though.

I have an Alix board sitting in its box that I was going to run m0n0wall of pfSense on. Just wasn't sure if there was a nicer unit for a reasonable price, and ran across this. Just scheming, trying to plan every last detail of my network overhaul when I move at the end of the month :D

The RB2011UAS-2HND-IN looks like a nice unit as well, seems to have good reviews from what I've seen. Integrated WiFi is nice too.

I guess what I'm really wondering is what are some of the better routers around the $100-$150 range? All I really care about feature wise is VPN, QoS and VLAN support, but I do want something a bit fancier than the average plastic box to play around with. Should I just stick with my Alix running m0n0wall/pfSense, or is there something a bit more fun out there? :D

My buddy got one for his office and is having me set it up.
It seems pretty powerful feature wise, I have some studying to do lol

Ordered one today. Finally found a place in Canada that had them in stock. Should be here on Thursday.

Yup.

I wasn't about to pay $50 shipping plus get raped with duties from UPS. I even tried to get stores in the US to ship USPS but they wouldn't
