I was just over at megagames, and I read a post by some random which I found interesting

Idiots. You guys know what you can do to forget all that video card sh*t? You can go to an electrical wiring technicien, get another godamn processor on your motherboards, adjust the psu, double the ram memory and dedicate half of it to the second cpu. And for as little as 450 bucks, you got yourselfs one heck of a graphics card that will last longer then you will. Think about this.

GPUs are far faster and more complex than cpus nowadays. What he is talking about would be basically inegrated graphics with a dedicated processor to it. Basically, it would look and perform like crap.
 
not possible. CPU is just moving Info, it lacks alll the special features (Pipelines, Vertex shaders) needed to actually render graphics.

My bet? 12 year old with a bogus theory.

Heh, go to an electrical wiring technician and have them build a new motherboard chipset for you too, while you're at it.

BTW, I'm fairly sure GPUs are in no way faster than CPUs. Faster at processing graphics, yes, but it kinda evens out when you try having your GPU calculate a million decimals of pi, or whatever. Assuming you could do that in the first place.

No, you're posts tend to be unknowledgable speculation with heavy bias. You act like you work for Ati and know how every aspect of their company works, and also like you're sitting in front of a crystal ball with all the answers on how the future will pan out. You also fail to back up any of your supposed facts with sources or anyone else who has said anything remotely similar, other than the other completely speculative posts on this forum.

Even a year old NV40 @ 400MHz has a VS array capable of 76 GFlops and each pixel pipeline can perform up to 4 Flops (or special operations) per cycle: 24.6 GFlops max (or 24,600 MIPS) for 16 pipelines @ 400MHz. An Athlon 64 2.6GHz can do 15 GFlops (SP) and a P4 3.8GHz can do 15.2 GFlops (SP) for comparison. 3D is very math heavy.

A fast CPU doing software rendering is in the same league as a TNT, if even that.

I dont blindly call ATI the uber company. I dont think that ATIs next card will be faster then Nvidias next card. Unlike some of the other posters here. I don't blindly say ATIs multi rendering will be better then SLI. Some of you think that just because I say "SM3.0 is not needed on this gen" that I am a blind fan boy. The truth is that even if the XT-PEs had SM3.0 I would still say that...

reeks of the old nvidia vs 3dfx days... then I met the 3dfx employees at an orientation meeting at a hotel for nvidia ahahah...

I don't go with any one company, I go with what is fastest (and most affordable)...
