Hello All,

I have the Rosewill Legacy U3-S micro ATX case and ASUS z87m-PLUS motherboard and I am having a bit of an issue with cable management...

The problem I am having is my motherboard's SATA connectors stick out the back instead of the top. (It seems like that's the way everyone is doing it nowadays for reasons I don't know why.) Here is a picture to demonstrate:

The depth of my case is only about 1-2 inches more than the width of the motherboard. If I use straight SATA cables then I have to bend them which I understand is not a good thing to do (and it seems like everyone makes super rigid/stiff cables, I can't seem to find good ones that are flexible).

If I buy 90 degree SATA cables then they face downward AND you can't stack them because the top connector will block the one below it.

To complicate the issue my two hard drives are mounted on the bracket shown in the picture above. In order to mount them I had to buy a 2.5" to 3.5" adapter which screws onto the hard drive bracket using four screws/screw holes on the sides. The adapter I am using won't let me mount the drives upside-down so everything is "flipped".

One solution I was thinking of is to use something like this:

but it looks like the "long" part is flipped, I would need the shorter end to be the one that goes into my SATA connectors and points upwards.

I don't know why I can't figure this out! It's frustrating me so much I am starting to doubt my decision to go with micro ATX. :O

Can anyone help me figure out what to do please? :)

Thank you.

Jan

This or this, or this maybe?

Also, are you going to use all six ports? If not, is there a particular reason you would insist on using ports 1 and 2?

Do a search at newegg or performancepcs for "SATA left angle" and you will find what you are looking for for your board edge connectors. If you actually have about 2" in front of the connectors you should be okay with regular cables anyway. Even if the regular cable has a 1" long connector you still have another 1" to make your 90 degree bend. You will not have any problems. I've bent SATA cables down to less than 1/2" radius with no problems.
