Hello there, This is my first post here and in the last few days i was digging into this forum as its like a gold mine for info and posts about multi screen setups.

To make it short.... I am in the market for my first 3x monitor setup

currently, my setup is 2x gtx480 with one 27 TN screen. although i doubt my 2x cards can run this high resolution but my plan is to go 2x7990 when its released of course. and no!! i wont wait for nvidia 690 as i am fed up with them cause of this overheating GTX480...

To go back to the subject i want to buy 3 monitors in portrait position... is 30x too big or will you feel big difference from 27" can your eyes keep up with 3x30 screens ? or would 3x 27" beside each other be better than portrait..

I only see pictures of the awesome vega setup .. but he is in a different world than me

I am not a heavy gamers as i only find 2 hours a day for games at most between work and life... but i want to build something that last 2 years like my old setup and have fun the most out of it when playing... forget about cost as for me i pay around 150$ to ship any kind of screen to where i live. so buying 27 or 30 makes more sense to pay 150$ for shipping...

I already upgraded my cpu and motherboard. 3930k + ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79
with 16 Gig memory & OCZ RevoDrive 3 X2

Where do you live? Have you looked into those korean 27" 2560x1440 screens? That might be worth looking into. Otherwise just go 3xU3011, dont bother with the U2711.

I work in Saudi Arabia. also i was very close on going with the korean 27" inch but if i learned something in my life. go big or go home!! :p

i just dislike changing alot. i am hoping those screens i buy now keep me satisfied 3 to 4 years without changing

my only worry is i never seen any 3x 27 or 30" in real life. let alone portrait.. i just wanna know how it will look. will the top corners be viewable 100% ?

Vega's videos should give you some idea

Also if you're going eyefinity remember to try to stick with all displayport interconnects for all the monitors to prevent the eyefinity horizontal/vertical line. That would mean getting a card with at least 3 DP ports too.

thx for the tip

ok i went crazy and ordered me 3x 30 inches !!!! my wallet is crying ^_^

anyways now i need to decide for Portrait which stand or XFX . i am searching only if any of them support 30 inch in portrait.

i'd go with 3x zr30w since they don't have any lag due to no osd and no internal scaler. The lag on the dell ips is unfavorable for gaming.

The U2711 is almost twice as fast compared to the U3011. The U3011 is one of the slowest monitors for gaming, as it is a slow panel with slower input lag.

Just make sure at those resolutions, you get a 3/4GB video card.

My 1GB 5850 crossfire runs out of video ram at 3600x1920.

Mo stand can support 3 30'rs (or else id have it already). I use monoprice monitor stands. They are a little inflexible, but they work and are cheap. It requires allen wrenches to adjust everything.
