So my Dell U3011 died today for no apparent reason. The monitor still gets power, since the power LEDs still light up and the computer will recognize the connect/disconnect of the DVI connection and even the USB hub (windows sound notification). Despite all that, I get no image on the screen, no "no signal" error, the on-screen menu does not display, and the total lack of backlight glow.

I had no issues at all with this monitor leading up to this failure. I purchased this monitor back in Feb 2011. Its a rev A01. Has anybody else experienced problems similar to this at all? I've never heard of any serious issues with the U3011 before.

Anyways I called up tech support and without any issues, Dell is going to send me a new monitor with 2 day shipping and even a voucher for return shipping. The call, including all the hold time was under 30 min. I was honestly shocked at how easy and quick it was to get the replacement setup. I guess it helps I ordered the monitor under the small business side of the website. Unfortunately I'll be out of a monitor for the whole weekend, but I shouldn't really be complaining.

I guess this thread is mostly to ask how common a near total failure of this model is and also to (shockingly) praise the tech support of Dell. Just sharing my experiences.

Dell support has been great to me. Sent back my U3011 twice due to various issues and both times Dell was excellent.

Hopefully mine doesn't just up and die! I really wish I had bought the extended warranty.

Once I get my new monitor I'll report back on the entire process. I just hope I don't have any dead pixels, my first one was flawless up until now.
