What can you tell me about this screen, anything at all I should know? How does it compare to TN panels? Especially, how are the black levels? Mostly, I spend my time researching/reading. The TV I'm on now is 1080 and 40", and I hate the 'screendoor' effect. I love it's black levels though, VA panel. I could deal with worse black levels, I suppose - but not TN worse.

it uses the lowest end IPS panel. That being said, TN still cannot touch it, IMO. Between my HP 2408h, ASUS VK246, and Dell U2311h, I like my U2311h over the other two. It's probably (in an easy way of describing) the most vivid, and the blacks are... blacker.

Oh, I forgot to ask..

I assume there's no correlation, but I want to make sure: does panel type effect sharpness? Or, is it just pixel pitch and DPI?

anybody is using a xbox 360 on this monitor? im thinking to buy one of these to use it with xbox 360 with a hdmi-dvi connector and want to know some opinions of people that use it with 360 or ps3 consoles.

This video review shows the U2311H hooked up to a PS3 with a HDMI to DVI cable.

Since this thread is 57 pages long and my question is not answered on at least the first 5, and I doubt ever - I'm bumping this again.

Are all TN / IPS created equal in sharpness, generally? At same resolution and size?

Sharpness? Pixel pitch will be the same if a panel is the same size and resolution...

Black levels are not acceptible on 95% of LCD's imho. The ones that are, usually suck for gaming, and only subpar for media watching. Its something you just have to live with.

Was about to jump on one of the existing 120hz monitors for gaming until i saw this.

A potentially 120hz monitor with 1ms response time and its IPS. Really vague details on it at this point though.

Where did you get the 1ms figure from? I wouldn't get my hopes up personally. They keep mentioning this technology has mostly been applied to TVs until now which could very likely mean it is motion interpolation/image processing rather than a true 120Hz input display.

Certain TV's with the scanning backlight's have a "theoretical" 1ms response time. Its actual effect isn't measurable.

EDIT: Your probably right, however those threads only show they don't actually know any hard facts yet.

Also, the fake interpolation supposedly is toggleable. The scanning back light is what im interested in.
It's a technology not yet introduced to the PC monitor market, its effect is even bigger than 120hz does
for FPS gamers imho. Thats debatable but motionblur nullification is important to me.

Also since this is a passive effect and not a post-processing, it doesn't introduce input lag.
