After playing F.E.A.R. for about 10 minutes, I atl+tab'd out of it to check on my VPU temp....and it was at 80* This is at stock speeds also.....is that normal?!

My 1900XT after 20-30 minutes of FEAR gets a max temp of ~70...dont know if that helps. have you tried to change the fan speeds in ATITool?

Not yet, what should i set it at? I like how it slows down in 2d apps, then speeds up in 3d. Is there any way to make it FASTER in 3d but still have it switchable?

fan settings are in the ATITool, in the bottom right corner there is a settings button, push it and you will get a settings applet, click the drop down box and highlite the "Fan Controls".
after you get the fan controls applet up, click the override settings button and set it to "dynamic based"
you can change the dynamic settings to whatever you find proper.

good luck.

Ahhhh cool! It asked me to terminate something in the begining which switches clocks from 2d to 3d...I hit no. I'm overclocking through CCC....will everything still work?

as far as I know everything should be the same regardless of what you answer to the question in that popup.
for my card it doesnt matter what I say to do it always shows my clocks at 500-600, I want to know how to tell if the clocks are being changed, and how to make it tell me what the 3d clocks are.
I would rather have it not change the clocks at all, I want it to show one clock setting and that it the setting that is stated on the box when I bought it...

Just run a 3d app, and alt+tab out of it. You'll see it change from 3d back to 2d clocks. It happens within seconds though.
