I'm looking to invest in some Tygon tubing, and have found a deal on 1/2 ID 1.5 OD. Now the 1.5 OD scares me a little... You guys think that's ridiculous? and would it fit on a whitewater?

1.5" outer diameter? As in, the tubing wall is .5" thick?

Yeah does that sound a little large?
yeah. Way large. The tubing wall on the tygon I've got in my case is no where near that thick. I'm guessing it's 1/8th thick, which puts my OD at .75". I can't imagine using tubing any thicker than that, you'd never get it to make a bend!

Had a good deal on it too... possibly 30 bucks for 50 feet... Do you know where I could buy that UV reactive blue tubing? I've been looking everywhere!

its better than vinyl and pvc tubing.....not as good clearflex and nowhere near as good as tygon...but it would get you by on a budget....id use swiftech's coolsleeves with it to prevent kinking....

not to hijack this or anything....but how do you think blue UV coolsleeves (http://www.frozencpu.com/cgi-bin/frozencpu/tsl-01.html) would look over green UV dyed water... and the coolsleeves would be coiled loosely so you can still see the green....think it would look good?

Here is a good place to get the tubing you want.

I have tygon with 1/4" diameter walls, and it's pretty thick....still is quite flexible but I wouldn't put anything larger than 1/4" walls in my system.

That stuff just seems cheap to me. I wouldn't put it in my system...
A couple of months ago I bought 20 feet (6 meter) of 1/2" blue Danger Den UV tubing and use it in my system:

I have to say I'm very pleased with it so far.

These are the different 1/2" tubings I have (and used):

From upper to lower:
- 1/16" wall silicone tubing (bought locally). This is still my favorite but the coolant evaporate rather quickly through the silicone.
- 1/8" wall DD blue UV tubing (=Primoflex from Primochill).
- 1/8" wall R-3603 Tygon tubing (Danger Den).
- 1/16" wall R-3603 Tygon tubing (BeCooling). This 1/16 stuff kinks way too easily.

The DD UV tubing is as soft as the 1/16" wall Tygon (the 1/8 wall Tygon is less soft), but less than the 1/16" silicone tubing.
To the touch is has a feeling somewhere between Tygon and silicone tubing.
It does't kink easily, it's like the 1/8" Tygon, which means very good.

CD :)
