I've had the two step verification via e-mail turned on by default since the new forum was introduced. Worked great, every 30 days I'd get an e-mail with the code for each of my devices.

Dunno what's causing it not to work right now. I had to turn it off in my settings, otherwise I wouldn't be able to log in with my phone. Maybe it's the temp servers, maybe it's something else.
