First Question:

How often should copies of CDs be burned again? DVDs?
I have read somewhere on forums that CDs will deteriorate
over time.

Second Question:

I have recently purchased a NEC 3520A and I am happy with it.
So now my CD Rom is showing signs of problems, sometimes will
fail to boot off the auto-start. Maybe I should say a lot of times it
just can't find it. I bought this CD Rom in 1999 so it is probably getting
a bit old. If I decide to get another is there any reason not to get
another 3520A?

By the way, I am a recent convert to Taiyo Yuden media because of the
recommendation of Techhead.

Thanks, Gib

Gib - get good quality CDs (Taiyo Yuden! ;) ), and you should be good to go with one copy each, as long as the CDs have no manufacturing defects.
As for the second CDROM, why not? Get another DVD writer by all means! Try the Benq 1620 though.. seems to be a better writer than the 3520.

I just looked on new-egg they seem to have them, but not in silver.
The case I have is silver and the NEC is silver, I would like to have
everything match if possible.

Any suggestions on other sites? By the way all media I have is TY
from RIMA.

Try ZZF and Amazon. One issue.. the Benq seems to be available in beige and black only, so you may have to do some DIY work on it to make it silver.
