Two prong connector on a D4?

My D4 has a two prong connector on the back, in the middle. It's very small... and I'm not sure what it's for? It's not in any of the documentation, and I've never seen anyone talk about it. It looks like potentially a power connector - but maybe it can be used as an RPM indicator?

Does anyone know what it's for?
 
I just got one too and i was about to ask the same question. Hopefully someone will answer. ^bump

Haha ... glad I'm not the only one who's looking at it and scratching his head. I felt pretty stupid for asking!

Maybe it's the super secret pump overclocking prong that no one is allowed to talk about.

First rule of D4 club is you do NOT talk about the prong.
Second rule of D4 club is you DO NOT TALK ABOUT THE PRONG.
 
IIRC, I was talking about this with Sean Richards (CritiCool Solutions) in July when I was picking up a couple blocks. I can't remember exactly what the connector was for, but I can ask him in my next email. :)
 
By connecting the two pins will allow you to start the pump at 6V. On the Swiftech version of D4 they come with the pins connected. With the pin disconnected, you have to start the pump with 10V min. Good luck....
 
Supposedly it's for starting voltage like Ironchief said, but nobody has actually noticed any different when using it.

is it safe to have those two pins connected all the time? no matter what the voltage is at? i want to put my pump on a Rheobus.

too bad can't use that for (fake) RPM monitoring - hook it up to the CPU FAN connector on the mobo and rest assured that the pump is working :D
