Two Problems

Hi there hardforums,

I'm having a couple problems that apparently I'm not going to be able to figure out on my own. So I come to you.

First of all, I use Firefox. Not all because I love the browser, but because I can't use IE anymore on this windows install. It has a bug.

Now this bug is easily removable with Ad Aware. It removes 9 entries to my registry that are the problem. But when I open IE it reinfects the browser which makes "http://easy-search.biz/: my home page and whatever addie I type in, it just sends me somewhere else.

Now I'm sure I could go to windows update and install a patch to fix this problem, but for some reason I can't. Next problem.....

I'm the second PC on a network. I have two nics in the first computer. One line from modem to first nic, second nic runs to hub, third to my PC. Everything used to work great, no problems at all. But now, for some reason I can't access certain sites, Windows Update being one of them. Yet on first PC I have no problems at all.

Any Ideas?

Disconnect from internet, run adaware, start IE, set homepage to something else ?
edit: I think I misread you. It reinfects it when starting it, not when it goes to that page?
If so, and adaware doesn't find whatever causes the reinfection, you should try both spybot and some antivirus program.

As for the second problem, it might be some worm that has jumped from the first computer. Whatever tools you get your hands on for problem 1), run them on the other one, too.

Boot to safe mode and run adaware.
