Two optical drives - Help in setup

I am using an IDE DVD writer at the moment, and planning to buy another new DVD writer (SATA).

So, will i be able to use both without problems? Asking as both using diff. sytems to connect.

Also, do i have to change jumper on drive with IDE cable OR as another is SATA no need to mess with jumper.

Next, in the case, is it advisable to place one drive below other OR shall i leave one slot empty and use the next?
 
Truthfully, I recommend replacing the IDE drive with the SATA drive. You don't need two optical drives for disc-to-disc burning.

But to answer your questions:

1) Yes, you'll be able to use both, as they use different connectors. However, many disc burning programs won't allow you to use both drives at the same time.

2) You can leave the IDE drive as a master drive. Each SATA drive operates on its own channel, eliminating the need for master and slave devices.

3) You can position the two drives however you want to in the case. For simplicity's sake, I recommend just stacking one drive on top of the other.

I repeat: Both drives below each other. Put the IDE drive on top of the SATA drive, since the IDE cable is harder to manage than the SATA cable.

May I ask why you insist on keeping both drives? I personally believe that you're better off by simply replacing the IDE drive with the SATA drive.
 
I actually want two drives, many of my games require DVD to be present in the drive and i hate keep on switchin disks... So i was thinking better to have two drives with two of my most played games dvd inside....
